The Noetic Feminism Institute™

Welcome New Noetic Feminist!

  • We’re here to experiment, to reframe feminism from the inside out. This is a place to rethink, restore, and reimagine.
  • We reclaim the soul as a legitimate site of resistance, and we draw from process theory to honor becoming as continuous, unfinished, alive.
  • Our research follows the feminist method of Intuitive Inquiry – rooted in depth, transformation, and self-aware analysis.
  • We hold intuition and empathy not as opposites of reason, but as rigorous ways of knowing the world and ourselves.

Modern Influencers:

Although active for decades, Gloria Steinem remains a widely respected figure in contemporary feminism. She continues to write, speak, and organize around issues like reproductive rights, political equality, and gender-based violence. Founder of MS. magazine.

A Nigerian writer and public intellectual, Adichie brought feminist discourse into mainstream global culture with her TED Talk “We Should All Be Feminists.” Her work examines gender, power, and identity with sharp insight and global reach.

Known both for her acting and activism, Watson launched the UN Women’s HeForShe campaign, urging men to actively support gender equality. She uses her platform to advocate for education, equal pay, and inclusive feminism.

A philosopher and gender theorist, Dr. Butler is best known for their groundbreaking work Gender Trouble, which challenged traditional notions of gender as fixed or binary. Their theories on performativity have become foundational in feminist and queer studies, influencing activism, academia, and public discourse on identity and power.

Fricker is a British philosopher serving as Silver Professor of Philosophy at New York University. She introduced and developed the concept of epistemic injustice, which examines how people can be wronged specifically in their capacity as knowers, often through systemic biases in testimony, interpretation, or credibility. Her work—especially Epistemic Injustice: Power and the Ethics of Knowing—has become foundational in feminist epistemology and debates about social power in knowledge production.

Historical Influencers:

An 18th-century British writer and philosopher, Wollstonecraft is often considered one of the first modern feminists. Her seminal work, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), argued that women are not naturally inferior to men but appear so only because they lack education.

An abolitionist and women’s rights activist in the 19th-century United States, Truth was born into slavery and became a powerful speaker. Her 1851 speech “Ain’t I a Woman?” remains a foundational feminist text, calling out both racial and gender injustice.

A French existentialist philosopher and writer, de Beauvoir’s 1949 book The Second Sex analyzed how women have been historically defined in relation to men. Her work laid the intellectual groundwork for second-wave feminism by questioning the cultural construction of womanhood.

Her 1963 book The Feminine Mystique is credited with sparking second-wave feminism in the U.S. Friedan co-founded the National Organization for Women (NOW) and advocated for women’s rights in the workplace, education, and politics. Though Feminine Mystique was criticized for not considering racial factors.

An American author, theorist, and cultural critic, bell hooks emphasized the intersections of race, gender, and class in her work. Books like Ain’t I a Woman? and Feminist Theory: From Margin to Center challenged the white, middle-class focus of mainstream feminism and pushed the movement to be more inclusive.
